The WorkKeys® Solution

ACT WorkKeys® is a national workplace skills analysis system that helps employers hire, train, and retain a skilled workforce.

Tidewater Community College, a WorkKeys® Solution Provider, can provide you with flexible, customized, cost-effective job analysis and skills assessment.

Employers use the WorkKeys® system to profile skill requirements for specific jobs, evaluate jobs applicant skills, evaluate the skills of current employees, determine individual and organization skill needs, and to provide focused education and training.

Job Profiling (Job Analysis):

ACT Authorized Job Profilers determine key skills and levels of competency required for specific jobs in your organization.

WorkKeys® Assessments:

ACT's standardized skills assessments are administered to job seekers or existing employees to determine current workplace skill levels. The WorkKeys assessments measure foundational and personal skills.

Foundational Skills assessments measure different applied job skills in the areas of communication, problem-solving and inter-personal skills. The foundational skills assessments are Reading for Information, Applied Mathematics, Locating Information, Applied Technology, Writing, Listening, Observation, and Teamwork.

The Personal Skills assessments, ACT's latest assesment component, is designed to predict job behavior and measure the full potential of individuals. The personal skills assessments are performance, talent, and fit.

Customized Gap Training:

After comparing job profiles and skill levels, TCC will help provide training programs that can close skill gaps and create a more capable workforce.

TCC WorkKeys® Programs
Tidewater Community  College offers two statewide program initiatives that use the Workkeys® assessments to determine and certify skill competencies.


Virginia Career Readiness Certificate:

This statewide credential certifies core employability skills through the use of the Workkeys core employability skill assessments: Applied Mathematics, Reading for Information, and Locating Information.

The WorkKeys Writing Program:

The Virginia Department of Education has endorsed the use of the Workkeys Writing assessment as an alternative to the Virginia Standards of Learning Writing test. The Tidewater Community College Workkeys Writing Program includes instruction, perparation, and the Workkeys Writing Assessment.
